On February 20, 2006, The Midland Company broke ground on a new, five-story office tower in Batavia Township. The new building will be located next to the company’s current facility and mirror it in design. The addition will contain 205,000 square feet of office space as well as a 20,000 square-foot training center. Construction on the new building should be complete by September 2007.

Midland is a highly focused provider of specialty insurance products and services. The company moved to Clermont County in 1995, when it built its current headquarters. It has since become one of the county’s largest employers with nearly 1,000 current employees. The $29 million expansion also represents the single largest investment announced in Clermont County in 2005. The new facility will help fuel the local economy and bring at least 150 jobs to the area in the next three years.

John Hayden, president and CEO of The Midland Company, said that strong growth necessitated the expansion. "The new building and the new training opportunities it represents will help keep us at the forefront of the industry." Hayden also paid tribute both to the region and its residents. "We are extremely pleased with our home here and with the high quality of our associates who have helped build our success," Hayden said. "For more than 67 years, Midland has sustained a tradition of excellence and has grown to become a leader in the specialty insurance marketplace over the last 40 years. We are excited to be starting a new chapter in our success, and we look forward to many more years of growth and stability."
