The future is looking very bright for MilAir, a new business that opened its operations in Miami Township earlier this year. After an April 12th ribbon cutting at its design and manufacturing facility in Park 50, MilAir is on track to book $500,000 in revenues in its first full year of operation.
MilAir designs and builds military specification air conditioners, primarily for the U.S. Department of Defense and its branches. The company was founded by Bruce Burtek as a spin off of Burtek, Inc., his successful mobile military equipment manufacturing company in Michigan. As the company considered whether to expand MilAir in Michigan or another location, it was drawn to Clermont County by the depth and breadth of the engineering talent found here in the air conditioning field.
"Locating MilAir in Clermont County was an easy choice," said MilAir Operations Manager Mike Hess. "It's a great location with easy access to interstates and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. We also have a highly skilled labor pool nearby." That access will be needed in the years ahead, as the company anticipates doubling its current office and manufacturing space and growing its workforce from its current employment level of nine to as many as 200.
