Milford-based Global Scrap Management (GSM) will expand its current aluminum processing capability by opening a second location at the former Ford Motor transmission plant in Batavia Township. The new division, Altimet, will be an aluminum foundry that will utilize new melt technology and reduce the cost of transforming scrap into recyclable metal units.
GSM is an aluminum scrap processing company founded in 2003 that focuses on customer service and increasing efficiencies in the recycling loop. Specifically, GSM concentrates its strategy towards industrial aluminum machining scrap, while supporting other items in various alloy categories. "Our expertise, technology, and focus on customer service has allowed us to grow during a difficult economic period," states President Chris Hamm, "We anticipate this expansion will provide a footprint for increased efficiency and continued growth."
GSM will utilize up to 300,000 square feet at the former auto transmission facility. "Clermont County's proactive efforts to redevelop this facility through the public-private partnership with the State of Ohio and IRG laid the foundation for GSM's expansion at this location. In addition to the current tenants, GSM is helping to continue the revitalization of this important manufacturing center in Clermont County," Hamm continued.
By working closely with National Bank & Trust, Clermont County's Department of Community & Economic Development, the Ohio Department of Development, the Hamilton County Development Company (HCDC), the Small Business Administration and Industrial Realty Group, Global Scrap Management has been able to secure financing and support for a project that will create and maintain nearly 50 jobs in the area.
