In November 2008, a Freeman Schwabe Machinery employee attended one of Ohio's first alternative energy supply chain informational sessions hosted by the Clermont County Office of Economic Development. Now, only eight short months later, Freeman Schwabe is offering manufacturing solutions for the solar and wind energy sectors.
Freeman Schwabe, which manufactures die-cutting presses for stamping fabric for auto interior parts among other industries, recognized the need to diversify due to the current economic condition of the automotive industry. With Ohio adopting an alternative energy portfolio standard mandating that by the year 2025, 25% of all electricity sold in the state must come from alternative energy resources, Greg DeFisher, CEO realized the potential growth of the solar and wind energy sectors. "We knew the company needed to diversify in order to continue our aggressive growth strategy. It was finding the right market for our product. After exploring different aspects of alternative energy sources and the adopted state legislation, we evaluated our products from a different perspective and narrowed down our interest to solar and wind."
So, after months of research and development, Freeman Schwabe is now providing a complete turnkey factory solution for solar module manufacturing, as well as composite cutting machines for rotor blades and other wind turbine components.
