The Clermont County Office of Economic Development (OED) was recognized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) with an honorable mention at IEDC's annual conference. The OED received the award for its general purpose website.
"Economic development efforts have always played a vital role in shoring up the nation's economy, one locality at a time," said Ronnie L. Bryant, IEDC chairman. "The award serves as a salute to pacesetting organizations like the Clermont County Office of Economic Development for leading the charge."
Competing in the category of general purpose website for areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, Clermont County was a clear standout. The website www.ClermontCountyOhio.biz is a critical communication tool in the county's economic development efforts. Intended to serve as a primary portal for information on Clermont County, the site provides information on incentives, available land and buildings, operating costs, and regional resources. The OED was also the leader in the Cincinnati metro region by being the first to integrate the county's GIS capabilities with a GIS Planning hosted land and building database in early 2005. The site contributes to economic development efforts in the county by creating a professional image of county government to prospective businesses, and instilling confidence that the county can be a creative and proactive partner in solving almost any company's needs.
