Freeman Schwabe Machinery, a leading manufacturer of industrial die cutting and converting systems, plans to construct a new headquarters and manufacturing facility on Bach-Buxton Road. Currently based in Erlanger, Kentucky, the company will build a 25,000 square foot facility and bring at least 25 positions to Union Township.
President and CEO Greg DeFisher lead a management buyout of Freeman Schwabe Machinery in November 2006. With strong demand for its products throughout the world, Freeman Schwabe required space better suited to its needs as well as a showplace to demonstrate equipment to its customers. The company plans to break ground on its new headquarters this month. The building plans will allow the facility to eventually grow to 50,000 SF.
Freeman Schwabe serves a diverse array of industries and its machines are used to make products both near and far. The magnetic strip on an Ohio driver's license is made on a Freeman Schwabe machine. Leather car seats in China, Europe, Korea, and Mexico are also cut on the company's equipment. Design engineering and manufacturing of such equipment is expected to begin in Clermont County by the spring of 2008.
Ohio tax reform helped lower operating costs and made a Clermont County location more attractive for the company. To assist with the relocation to Clermont County, the company worked with the Clermont Chamber and the Office of Economic Development. It received a Job Creation Tax Credit and training assistance from the State of Ohio as well as a real property tax abatement on its new building.
