Three Clermont County businesses were recognized for manufacturing excellence at Cincy Business Magazine's Manny Awards on June 7th. Cincy Business Magazine launched the Manny Awards this year to honor Greater Cincinnati manufacturers who have distinguished themselves. The Manny Awards celebrate growth and innovation in the manufacturing sector.
Fifteen companies were selected for Manny awards after the review of 80 nominees by an independent panel of business and government leaders. Three of the fifteen honorees are based in Clermont County. American Micro Products was recognized for New Job Creation, General Data Company won for Biggest Breakthrough, and Odom Industries earned a Manny Award for Top Growth.
American Micro Products in Batavia Township is one of Clermont County's and the Tristate's fastest growing manufacturers. The company, a global leader in precision machined components, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006. The company plans to add 30 to 50 employees within the next year. The company has also invested in its workforce by hiring a full-time trainer to help employees develop highly specialized machining skills. General Data produces medical tracking technology that saves lives by reducing preventable medical errors. Innovative products such as the StainerShield, an error-proof specimen identification and tracking system, have made the Union Township business a world leader in workflow management for pathology laboratories. These life-saving devices also helped General Data win a Manny Award for "Biggest Breakthrough" in the manufacturing field. General Data CEO Peter Wenzel describes his company's operations here.
Miami Township's Odom Industries has grown from a small operation in the basement of Tim and Rita Odom's home to a multi-million dollar business in six years. This stratospheric growth garnered the company a "Top Growth" Manny Award. Odom manufactures custom pressure vessels and parts for the steel, oil, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. The company has pursued an aggressive diversification strategy by entering new fields such as food service and water storage. It has also begun to provide field service for its products in addition to manufacturing them.
