On April 12th, MilAir officially opened its corporate headquarters at 501 TechneCenter Drive in Park 50. MilAir is a new manufacturing company that designs and builds military specification air conditioners. The company has leased 8,000 square feet and expects to employ at least 30 people within three years.
MilAir was recently established in Ohio after spinning out of the Michigan-based Burtek, Inc, which is a mobile military equipment manufacturer. Company founder and CEO Bruce Burtek welcomed guests to the new facility and explained that the company selected Clermont County for its operations after considering several sites in Michigan and Ohio. Mr. Burtek said that MilAir was initially drawn to Clermont County because of the area's strong history in research and manufacturing of environmental control systems. He felt that Clermont County offered a very talented workforce that could be found nowhere else and predicted tremendous growth for the company.
MilAir worked closely with the State of Ohio and Clermont County as it made its location decision. A job creation tax credit and training assistance from the State helped convince the company that an Ohio location would be most advantageous. Director of Sales and Engineering John Lyons explained, "Our original plan was just to have engineering and sales here, but because of the tax incentives and local workforce, we decided to locate our operations down here."
The company has already hired three employees to start its operations and expects to begin production this July.
