Last year saw tremendous growth in Clermont County. In 2006, 12 new location or expansion projects were announced. These projects represented $26.2 million invested, 345,000 square feet absorbed, and 744 new jobs created.
The OED has analyzed the demand in 2006 for office and industrial space in Clermont County. We received 106 inquiries for possible projects and were able to respond with potential sites or buildings for 84 of those projects (79%).
Of those 84 leads, there were:
- 55 manufacturing projects (65%)
- 12 warehouse projects (14%)
- 11 office projects (13%)
- 3 power plants (4%) and
- 3 projects with other uses (4%).
Projects looking for an existing building needed an average of 80,000 square feet while new construction projects required an average of 23 acres. OED missed the opportunity to respond to 22 leads due to the lack of appropriate land or buildings. With an average building need of 116,000 square feet, this unmet demand had larger average space needs than projects we were able to respond to.
