Mercy Hospital Clermont officially opened the doors on phase one of its $18 million expansion

On September 6, Mercy Hospital Clermont officially opened the doors on phase one of its $18 million expansion less than one year after the project was launched. Mercy Clermont President Mark Shugarman and Mercy Health Partners CEO Tom Urban welcomed community leaders, physicians, nurses, and volunteers to the new facility.

Mercy Clermont is undergoing a three-phase expansion that will be completed in 2008. The September 6th ribbon cutting officially opened a new three-story medical office building that will house 25 physicians and feature outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy. A modern entrance and lobby were also added during construction.

With completion of the medical office building, Mercy Clermont will move into the second phase of its expansion. In 2007, Mercy will construct a larger ICU that will be integrated with its emergency room. In 2008, the expansion will add 23 private patient rooms.

Mercy Hospital Clermont currently has 616 employees and 322 affiliated physicians. It is expected to add another 130 employees as a result of the expansion.
