In early October, approximately 250 Clermont County businesses will receive a letter with details about a business retention blitz. Clermont County's Office of Economic Development in cooperation with the Cincinnati USA Partnership and the Clermont Chamber of Commerce will conduct the blitz October 23-27. The Partnership conducts blitzes throughout the year to meet with area companies and discuss their business needs. Partnership, Clermont Chamber, and County representatives then work with organizations to address their specific needs, including zoning, permitting, workforce development, and assistance with expansion plans.
A strong business retention program is a core component of Clermont County's growth strategy. "The Board of County Commissioners recognizes that the vast majority of employment growth and capital investment in Clermont County comes from existing businesses,” said Andy Kuchta, director of the Office of Economic Development. "Partnering with the Business Retention Committee allows us to communicate directly with more companies than we could on our own, and helps us identify areas we can focus on to improve the county’s overall business climate.” The aggressive targets set for the number of meetings during the blitz will be achievable because of the Clermont Chamber's assistance making initial contacts and participating in interviews.
The retention blitz is equally important to the entire Greater Cincinnati community. "As the pace of business increases, it's vital to maintain personal contact with our area's top employers,” said Chris Perrino, business development director for Barnes, Dennig and Company. "The 30 plus members of the Business Retention Committee are proud to serve as regional ambassadors who meet with more than 300 business leaders each year and then communicate their concerns to the Partnership."
